LUCILLE

Lucille is the first of my two mothers-in-law. Along with her late husband, Whitey, Lucille and Whitey were more like parents to me than in-laws. They helped our family out financially when we were young and struggling and trying to buy our first home. They were the ever-present, loving, involved “Granny and Baba” while Bethany, Belinda and Ben were growing up. They continued to be supportive and encouraging to me when I, as a widowed 46-year-old, decided to return to college to learn radiation therapy.

And today is a special day. Today is Lucille’s birthday!

Nine-month-old Bethany hanging out with Granny and Baba (March, 1977)

Lucille enjoying some laughs at Whitey’s retirement dinner (June, 1981)

Granny enjoying some snuggle time with Bethany, Belinda and Ben (December, 1983)

Lucille and I spending some time together at Angelo’s Pizza during Debra’s and Gordon’s birthday celebration (July, 2007)

Lucille spending some time with Makiah, as well (July, 2007)

To this day, Lucille continues to laugh at my incredibly funny sense of humor (October, 2008)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY
