WATER SLIDE FUN

Today we took a family outing to Emigrant Lake where we picnicked on a grassy hill beside the lake before entering the water slide park.

Bethany slides.

Tim kept sliding on his back for greater speed until I mentioned that sliding on his back didn't make for very good photos.

Then he tried a more photo-friendly slide.

Baylee slides.

Then comes Rylie.

Silas takes a turn.

Nana and Hunter slide in tandem.

Nana and Hunter reach the bottom of the slide.

Tracy, Naomi and Devon watch the others reach the bottom of the slide from outside the chain link fence while Nana and Hunter, who just finished their tandem slide, also watch.

Hunter and Naomi talk through the openings in the fence while Tracy observes.

Grumps, Naomi and Bethany rest in the shade.

Naomi spent a good part of the weekend telling everyone "I'm almost three" while holding up three fingers - always her index finger, middle finger and little finger.

SECOND WAVE OF WEEKEND GUESTS ARRIVE

The second batch of weekend guests arrived today: The Weathersbys and my Dad (aka "Grumps"). Barbecued hamburgers and hot dogs, swimming, and lots of visiting filled up the day. Josh had to leave early for other family obligations.

The weekend crowd included: (top row, left to right) Grumps, Debra, Ashley, Tim, Tracy and Bethany; (seated, left to right) me, Silas, Naomi, Hunter and Devon.

Hunter takes Naomi for a ride.

Nana and Naomi jump out of the pool.

Hunter swims while Tim and Bethany float nearby and while Grumps sits on the deck.

Three boy cousins.

BEFORE THE SECOND WAVE

The second wave of weekend visitors will start arriving this afternoon. With the first wave having arrived yesterday, I took Hunter to Bear Creek Park this morning to burn some energy and kill some time.

Hunter occupies the passenger seat of my pickup as we head to Bear Creek Park.

Hunter, shown in the middle of this photo, spent nearly two hours on the climbing structure.

Climbing to the top of the tower.

Climbing to the next level through a tire opening.

Swinging sideways.

Watching "Jesus Bugs" walking on the surface of the creek.

Rehydrating.

Posing for Papa.

Trying to catch a Jesus Bug.

Before leaving Bear Creek Park, a maintenance employee deputized Hunter with a police badge.

FIRST WAVE OF WEEKEND GUESTS ARRIVE

Our weekend guests started arriving today in the first of two waves. The second wave arrives tomorrow. All in all, there will be twelve of us getting together over the next three days: Nine guests plus the three residents of the house on Hybiscus.

When I arrived at the airport earlier this afternoon to pick up Josh, Jessica and Haydn were already there to greet him.

Within a couple of hours after Josh and I got back to the house, we heard a knock at the front door. When I opened it, there stood Tracy and Hunter to complete the first wave of weekend guests, We all headed out to dinner at one of Josh's two favorite restaurants, then returned home to spend the rest of the warm, summer evening in and around some cool water and some hot water.

Haydn, Jessica and Josh at the Rogue Valley International Medford Airport.

Hunter and I cool off in the pool.

Then we warm up and make funny faces in the hot tub.

The pool steps make great seating.

Debra and Josh play a game of "washers".

Debra tosses a washer.

Ashley prepares to toss a washer.

Hunter tames a dragon.

Hunter floats on a dragon while I float on a couple of noodles.

Josh works with his new computer.

One hot tub, one face, two feet.

Digging life.

Josh shows signs that he is possibly fatigued from spending the past 35 hours in airports and in airplanes while Tracy, chatting with Debra, shows signs that she is not digging having a camera pointed in her direction.

Ashley lounges on the opposite side of the pool while Hunter shows no interest in ever wanting to get out.

As the sun sets, the pool lights reflect off Hunter.

Tracy and Debra are visiting while, simultaneously, wishing I was not armed with a camera.

Photographer denied.

Thursday ends. Pool is covered.
