PAPER CHAIN COUNTDOWN

Grandchildren in this family have learned to visualize the time required to wait for a visit by using a paper chain. Each day, as the date of the visit draws nearer, the kids rip off another link on the paper chain. As the chain gets smaller and smaller, the visit gets closer and closer. Finally, the links are all gone, the chain disappears, and the visitors arrive!

Silas and Devon (numbers 5 and 6 on The Roster) have used paper chains while waiting for Papa and Nana and Ashley to arrive in Beaverton. Daisy and Ally (numbers 1 and 3 on The Roster) used paper chains three summers ago while waiting for Papa and Aunt Bethany to arrive in the Philippines.

So, if grandchildren can use paper chains, why can't grandparents?

And now it’s my turn to use my paper chain to count down the days we must wait to see Tim and Bethany and Silas and Devon and Naomi when they arrive in the very near future.

Oh, and I thought it was a chain counting down the days until you have two kids in their 30's!!!

No, Belinda, the chain was not counting down to the upcoming Big Three-O.

I'll make my next paper chain when I have a specific date for a trip to the Philippines.
