In the heart of downtown Medford, beside the railroad tracks on the corner of E. Main Street and S. Front Street, stood a bank for many years. Key Bank. Then one day Key Bank moved across the street from its original location to another corner at the same intersection.
The previous bank building was then used as a youth center for a few years. Finally, about three or four years ago, the old bank became the home of Mountain Christian Fellowship. Debra and I have made this our church home.
But the building still remains the site of a former bank. That means it was constructed with a cash vault. The question then arises: What do you do with an old cash vault if you are now a church?
The answer: Make the cash vault into a prayer room.
There must be some deep symbolism somewhere in this scenario.
