RUN, RUN, RUN, RUN, RUN, RELAX

In addition to me working a bunch of ten to twelve hour days over the past few weeks, Debra and I also have had a string of very busy weekends. Fun, but busy. The past five consecutive weekends have looked like this:

1. Weekend of July 17

The Weathersbys arrive on Thursday. Judy and Dean arrive on Friday. We celebrate Dean’s birthday in our back yard on Saturday with seventeen partying people. Judy, Dean, Debra and I attend a play on Sunday.

2. Weekend of July 24

My four-year-old grandson, Hunter, visits from Washington with his mother, brother and sister. On Saturday we go out to breakfast, go miniature golfing, spend a hot afternoon swimming, and then we finish the day by attending a 3-D movie in the evening. We all go to church together on Sunday.

3. Weekend of July 31

Debra and Ashley drive ten hours to Monterey, California, to attend Spirit West Coast 2009, a Christian music festival and conference. Their road trip lasts five days, they meet Nick Vujicic, and then they drive another ten hours home.

4. Weekend of August 7

Ashley and I drive five hours to Beaverton, celebrate Naomi and Tim’s Birthdays, then drive five hours back.

5. This weekend

Twenty friends and family members converge on our back yard yesterday to celebrate Gordon and Makiah’s birthdays.

Debra and I are now pondering the concept that relaxing might be a reasonable alternative to running. At least for a few days. So, after church this morning, we’re getting in my pickup and driving somewhere to do just that.

Relax.

Just the two of us.

You guys are the best. You're the perfect grandparents, amazing parents, hospitable, fun, etc. You guys MUST be tired after all this summer has held, but a GOOD kind of tired. It looks like a lot of loving memories were made for a lot of people!
