JUST THE TWO OF US (DAY 1)

After spending the past five consecutive weeks running, Debra and I decided to spend a few days relaxing. The plan was to come home from church on Sunday, strap a couple of suitcases to the bed of the pickup with a couple of bungee cords, then start driving. Nice and slowly. No hurry. No schedule. Just the two of us.

Our departure was a bit delayed, however, when we discovered Sunday morning that Ashley's car had two flat tires. Both on the passenger side along the curb. After church, I removed the valve covers to see if some prankster had deflated the tires using the old "BB-in-the-valve-cover" trick. No such luck. Both tires had been slashed with a knife. The insurance company and the tire shop were both closed, so we gave Ashley the keys to Debra's car and Debra and I headed up I-5.

After about three or four hours on the road, we ended up in Old Town Bandon where we spent our first relaxing night.

Debra and I lean against the rail outside our upstairs room at the Inn at Old Town. Rooftops of the shops in Old Town Bandon can be seen to the left beyond the rail and a few masts from boats docked in the harbor can be seen to the right.

After arriving at Old Town Bandon, we spent some time strolling along the dock.

Before retiring for the evening, we stopped at Dairy Queen for a Blizzard. Debra ordered the new coastal special, "Seagull Blizzard", served with a seagull on the lid.

That seagull really looks like it's on top of the cup! Nice picture!
