BRRRRR-THDAY PARTY

When Rylie celebrated her eighth birthday last month, she asked if she could have a pool party at our house once the weather warmed up in June. We agreed, June arrived, but the weather never really warmed up.

Today, the day of Rylie's birthday pool party, the temperature stayed in the 60's, the wind blew, and the sun cast only rare shadows through moving clouds.

Brrrrr!

The weather, however, did not chill the enthusiasm of the five girls who wasted no time jumping into the pool.

Rylie specifically requested that we inflate the dragon.

Rylie did not request the clouds in the sky.

Four of the five girls refused to be intimidated by the cool air. The fifth girl, a non-swimmer, was already in the pool wearing a life jacket.

Josie and Makiah stayed dry and watched.

Baylee leaps into the water.

Rylie also leaps into the water.

Five freezing females wrap in towels for pizza and snacks.

Around 4:00 p.m., the thermometer on the patio registered 66 degrees.

Makiah, wearing a sweatshirt, decided to go inside for awhile to get out of the cold.

Baylee and Rylie stayed outside drinking lemonade and eating pizza.

Debra watches the swimmers while sipping on her own homemade blend of Coconut Thai Tea.

Debra discovers, while sipping on her Coconut Thai Tea, that I am taking pictures.

Sisters visit together. One carries a cup of lemonade and one carries an unborn child.

Debra shows Makiah how to blow bubbles.

Debra and Makiah, given a choice between a swimming pool and a hot tub, opt for the hot tub.

The party ended on a warm note.
