Debra and I arrive at the Comfort Inn in Santa Rosa for a weekend visit with my sister. We check in at the front desk and are given a key to room 319. We carry our luggage to room 319, open the door, and discover a room with sheets and blankets in disarray and with food wrappers and beverage containers scattered on the floor. The room has not been cleaned from the previous guests.
So, we haul our luggage back to the front desk, explain our situation, and receive a key to room 206. We then carry our luggage to room 206, open the door to a clean room, and immediately hook up our laptop. We are unable to connect to the Internet and I call the front desk to explain our situation. We are told that the Internet is down. So, I decide to turn on the TV. But the TV won't turn on from either the remote control or from the set itself. So, we are in a room without Internet or TV, and I again call the front desk.
The lady at the front desk soon arrives at our room with a key to room 205. We repack our suitcases and haul them down the hall to our third attempt at a hotel room.
Friday, August 6th
I wake up and try again to connect to the Internet. There is no connection. I again call the front desk and am told that the Internet is still down. So, I wander downstairs to the breakfast room for a cup of coffee. The coffee container is empty, so I return to room 205 without coffee and without an Internet connection.
We leave the hotel for a rafting trip on the Russian River and return to room 205 early in the evening. The Internet is still down. We watch some news on the TV and go to bed.
Saturday, August 7th
We are awakened at 6:30 a.m. to a fire alarm sounding throughout the entire hotel. We poke our heads out the door to see others poking their heads out their doors. I call the front desk and am told that it was a false alarm. But we're now awake and not able to get back to sleep. I again check the Internet. Again, no connection.
We leave the hotel for a day at the county fair and return later that afternoon. The Internet is still down, so we watch some news and go to bed.
Sunday, August 8th
We get ready to check out of the hotel and join my sister for breakfast before we return home. The lady at the front desk says "You're prepaid, so you can go".
I say, "I have a question. Since we paid for three nights for a room with Internet service, and since your Internet was down the whole time we were here, should we get a partial refund?".
She says, "We have no control of that. Would you like to speak with the manager?"
I say, "No thank you," and we leave the hotel.

That's the pits. Thanks for the heads up. Glad you didn't have to spend to much time in the room.

Maybe you'll get some sort of refund. Or a discount on future stays. Or nothing. But you have nothing to lose and HQ should know about this kind of nonsense.
Having worked in the hospitatlity industry for a number of years and having a husband that works in the hospitality industry, you should be entitled to a partial refund for your lack of internet service it it was part of your original price quote. Contact the company through which you prepaid for the hotel as well as the home office of the hotel. The home/corporate office of this hotel chain will probably be very interested in your experience. ;)
