Surrounded by a Hawaiian theme, Makiah, who is listed 9th out of ten on the roster (click here), hosted about 30 people in celebration of her very first ever birthday party.
Makiah wasn’t the only coconut-clad lady to make an appearance. Here, she shares the spotlight with another.
We were also joined by a couple of motion-activated hula dancers who started swaying their hips and arms whenever someone walked by.
A live hula show highlighted the event. With a steady stream of Hawaiian music filling the air from the stereo (music from a CD purchased at The Dollar Tree for only – you guessed it – one dollar!) these live dancers performed to a captivated audience.
The birthday party continued with the traditional birthday cake.
One-year-olds are perfectly capable of blowing out their own candles. With help.
And with the encouragement of a supportive audience.
Mom cuts the cake . . .
. . . while Makiah takes a stroll with both grandmothers.
The guests enjoy an enthusiastic ovation from the star of the show.
The only significant problem that occurred at this event was, well, how can you enjoy a party when you’ve got cake and frosting stuck to your left eyelash?
And as the party winded down, and as the sun set slowly in the West, highlighting the facial food makeup, one could only ponder, look back upon the day, and conclude: “That was a pretty good party.
